Not Even Close To Wordless Wednesday: Good News/Bad News

OK, so we will start with some good news. My daughter started dance class on Monday and she LOVES it. Here she is showing off some of her sweet moves:

But now we move on to some bad news. My debit card got hacked and some loser scumbag asshat charged about $250 worth of Boos Mobile minutes and Asian food using it. Thankfully, I found the first charge last Friday night and called immediately so it could have been much worse. Also, thankfully, I did not have much money in there so they couldn't make any big purchases. One of the only times when being broke is a good thing. But what really sucked was that I was planning on buying some Jonas Brothers tickets for me and my daughter, and since it was going to take seven days to get my money back and the concert is this weekend, I was pretty sure that dream was down the toilet. HOWEVER, a little angel who restored my faith in humanity made it possible. So, yes, the next piece of good news is...

My little girl and I are taking a girls road trip and going to The Jonas Brothers this weekend!!!!!!!!!

We are just a little bit excited. And by just a little bit, I mean that she has woken up every morning this week asking if it's time to go see The Jonas Brothers. And I might be putting quite a bit of thought into what to wear and how to do my hair so I don't look like an old, desperate cougar amongst all the screaming tween girls. But no matter what, we are going to have a blast, because they really do put on an awesome show and live music is always AWESOME.

Ok, now for some more bad news. Yesterday I started getting sick. So I have been pumping myself full of fluids, taking Vitamin C and Zinc and hubby came home and made me chicken soup last night. So I am working very hard on getting better by Saturday so I am able to fully enjoy the Jonas Brothers experience.

Good news! The Sex and The Suburbs blog is going to launch next week! I know, I know, you just can't contain yourselves! So Monday, I will be posting a link to the very first Sex and The Suburbs post at its new home, and I expect all of you to come, read, comment and get in on the discussions. I really need you. And you. Yes, you too. Don't try to hide over there in the corner, I see you. And I need you too.

So, I will end on that positive note, instead of the other piece of bad news I have cause it's really not THAT bad and I am all about looking on the bright side. Heh.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: The Princess Has Left The Building

This is the cake my mother (Rose from All About Cakes) made for my daughter for her 3rd birthday party - the Disney Princess Extravaganza. Amazing, isn't it? She may be a tad bit spoiled. But aren't all princesses?

Apparently, this little princess has figured out the diva complex often associated with princess status, since most of the day she refused to wear her dress (which she has worn non stop for two months now) and wanted nothing more than to lay on the couch sucking her thumb while her guests were outside partying. Needless to say, Mommy was ready to glue the dress to her and drag her by the wand to join the party by the end of the day, but we still had a blast. Here are some highlights:

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Celebrate! (Princess Style)

Thanks to Celebrate Express, my daughter is having the most kick-ass Princess Party that any little girl could ever dream of. Yes, we have the plates, the napkins, the balloons, the cups, the crepe paper, everything that we need for a fairy tale party that would make Cinderella jealous. Speaking of, my daughter is dressing up as Cinderella for this party, and we may even have a REAL LIFE Cinderella there to blow her mind. How cool is that?

Celebrate Express is an awesome site to get your party supplies from; they have a great selection and reasonable prices. I am really glad I found them so I wouldn't have to go get raped by I-Party or another comparable party store where they charge you $5 per plate and $30 for a bunch of balloons. In these tough financial times, I am grateful that I can still give my little princess the party she deserves.

Now it's just too bad that most of her friends are boys...sorry little guys!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Atypical Sunday

This past Sunday, my husband actually stayed home with the family instead of working on our house. We had breakfast, went on a hike in the freezing rain with the dog and came back to the warm house to snuggle and drink hot chocolate. It was beautiful. A reminder of the way things used to be before we bought our money pit and moved in with my in-laws. A renewed memory of lazy Sundays as a family. Here is what it looked like:


I look forward to the day (hopefully) sometime soon when every Sunday can be like this one (perhaps minus the 30 lb toddler on my back--next time hubby gets the babypack).

It will all be worth it.

SANTA!!!!!!!!!!

As we waited to see Santa, Baby Girl was so excited, she could barely contain herself, and she shouted to get the big guy's attention...

Finally, the time came, the special opportunity to sit with the Man Himself and tell him all the wonderful things she hoped to get for Christmas this year. The list consisted of a bicycle, dolls and cars, she had told me. She was going to delight him with how good she has been and that she and her brother deserved lots of toys. And she also said she wanted to tell Santa that she had very clean teeth.

But alas, when the time came for the big meeting, she sat in his lap and looked at him, eyes wide as saucers, and she wouldn't say a thing. She sat there, mute, looking like a deer in headlights.

Maybe next year...

I made the mistake of letting her try it on...all day she cried and wailed "monkey costuuuuuume." I even put it on top of the computer desk's hutch and she tried to scale the computer desk to get it. See--perfect costume--she is a little MONKEY!
